Practical Block 1: LED Circuit Build in simulator

Goal: Wire an LED to GPIO 17 and make it light up.

Components Needed:

1 × LED (any color)

1 × 330Ω resistor (orange-orange-brown)

2 × Jumper wires

Breadboard

Raspberry Pi 5

Safety Rules Before Wiring:

Power off the Pi first. Never wire circuits with power on .

Always use a resistor with an LED. Without it, too much current flows and damages both the LED and the Pi pin .

Check LED polarity: Long leg (anode) toward GPIO, short leg (cathode) toward Ground .

Wiring Steps:

Insert LED into breadboard (long leg in one row, short leg in adjacent row)

Insert resistor: one end in same row as LED long leg

Jumper wire: from GPIO 17 (physical pin 11) to resistor

Jumper wire: from LED short leg row to any GND pin (e.g., physical pin 6)

Debugging Checklist (if LED doesn’t light):

Is the resistor in the circuit?

Is LED polarity correct? (long leg toward GPIO)

Is code using LED(17) not LED(11)?

Try a different GPIO pin (change code to LED(27))
